Pioneered by SEAT's Brand Group
partner, Audi, TDI stands for Turbocharged Diesel
Injection engine. This type of high performance
motor is characterised by economy, reduced emissions
and increased, low-end power (torque).
The power of the TDI engines takes the Leon to new
levels of maximum-strength driving. The motor is
available with or without DPF on the New Leon’s
1.9 TDI* 105 hp, 2.0 TDI* 140 hp, 2.0 TDI* 140 hp
DSG. The FR promises even more with 2.0 TDI* 170
hp DPF.
The general principle behind the TDI is: a turbocharger
delivers air to the engine and ensures the cylinder
is filled to an optimum level.
Then, in the last part of the compression stroke,
very high-pressure diesel fuel is injected into
the combustion chamber to create a highly combustible
air/diesel mix.
This reduces emissions, increases performance and,
thanks to the engine encapsulation and hydraulic
mounts, keeps noise down, ensures smooth running
and low vibration.
*Complete with selective pump injector technology
